Blaze x Black isn’t your typical duo — they’re a force born straight out of the historic 5th Ward in Northside Houston. Raised in a city known for turning grit into greatness, they represent a generation of storytellers who turn their lived experiences into genre-defying sound. With strong family roots, musical beginnings in church, and a passion for poetry, Rick Blaze and Bishop Black grew up surrounded by creativity and conviction — and it shows.

Their signature blend of Hip-Hop, Alternative Rock, R&B, and Electronic brings to mind acts like N.E.R.D, Tyler the Creator, The-Dream, and Toro y Moi. It’s raw, cinematic, and deeply intentional. Their latest album, “NAHIMSAYIN”, released May 27, 2025, is the clearest statement yet of their bold vision and undeniable chemistry.
Recognized by their city and crowned with August 4th as Blaze x Black Day, the duo has rocked the stage at over 60 shows at Houston’s House of Blues, performed during Super Bowl LI at Discovery Green, and lit up platforms like Fox 26, ABC13, and CW39. Their influence spans beyond music — landing collaborations with brands like Sprint, Martell, Jameson Whiskey, NFL, and the City of Houston’s Mayor’s Office.
For Blaze x Black, the mission is spiritual and cultural. They credit God and their family as their creative compass, and they pour that faith and fire into every track. Their movement is powered by their loyal “FamBase” — also known as the “Artthrobs” — who ride with them for the sound, the energy, and the legacy.
