JonTrae Rhoades, also known by his stage name Trae-D, is a recording artist originally from New Iberia, Louisiana. He currently resides in Houston, Texas where he works full time while pursuing his music career. The love being able to create life rap and tell stories that other people can feel and relate to keeps him going as an artist. Throughout life he has faced many challenges when if you listen to his music, you will hear and feel the pain as he goes through each phase of life searching for healing and peace. Hence the slogan I’ve adapted “Very Peaceful, Very Soulful.
As a recording artist and songwriter, he has dropped 2 mixtapes - Black Heart 1 & 2. In 2021, he dropped his first album titled Traequility. In 2022, he followed up with his second album titled Church On A Wednesday. Along with those 2 albums, he has dropped several EP’s and singles. In 2022, he attended the L.O.U.D. Muzik Press Junket where he was able to spread awareness of his music while also interviewing with multiple radio stations, podcasts, and talk shows. His most notable interview was being a guest on The Wake Up Morning Show here in Houston Texas.
While listening to Trae-D’s music you hear he mentions long live Topshelf after every song who was his brother whose real name is Brandon Malveaux that got killed in 2019 due to gun violence. Mentioning his name in every song is a way that Trae-D keeps his name alive and remembered. When he passed I made a promise not to retaliate with violence but to make sure the whole world knows his name. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be going so hard with the music because it was him who was always on me about going to the studio and continuing to chase the dream.
As a performing artist, Trae-D has blessed many stages and venues. All around Houston, he has been involved in multiple showcases and open mics. He has performed at The House Of Blues in New Orleans with Lou Muzik. He opened up for Trae The Truth at the Lux Tavern in Houston, Texas. He was also part of a 2-day tour by the name of I Got What It Takes Tour, while also performing at a Guns Down Clippers Up event bringing awareness to gun violence. Trae-D has worked with and have songs with AJ McQueen, Comptons California’s very own WESTSIDE Boogie who is a major label recording artist, and also have a song featuring Vallejo California’s very own LaRussell. He also toured with Leebo & Trae the Truth
